Seventh— The deaths among lives assured were 649 under 735 policies, causing claims upon tlw» Society amounting to £299,602, irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number expected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have been 1143, for an amonnt of £438,---97-S, the mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. [ Eionra— The receipts from interest and vents were £316,832, an amonnt exceeding the sum paid for the claims by £138,932. Ninth— The expenses of Management were only 9.5 per cent, of the total receipts. Tenth— The cash surplus divided for the year' 1889 waß £426,494, being at the rate of 41.S per cent, on the premiums received. The operations of the Society during the 41 years of its existence may be summarised as under — It Ims issned 141,907 policies, assuring £49,417,717. It has paid to the representatives of deceased members over £4,---000,000 in satisfaction of death anp matured claims. It has divided among the members oash bonuses aggregating over £4,000,000, yielding reversionary additions of over £8,060,006.
