Foxton School Committee.

A special meeting of the Foxton School ' ommittee was held at Mr Ray's office on Saturday, at the request of the Education Board, to consider the applications forwarded for the position of head-master. Messrs Thynne, (chairman) Little, Spellman, Honore and Bay were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Before proceeding with the special business, the resignation by Mr Woodham, of his position, was read and the following resolution was passed, and directed to be sent to him : — That the Committee regret to lose Vfr Woodham as head-master of the Foxton School, which position he has held since May 1886, and desire to testify that during his, headmastership he has been very painstaking and diligent in the performmce of his duties and that he has riven satisfaction in the management of the school. The applications forwarded by the Board were from Messrs H. W. Hammond, A. Nicholls, W. Ward, F. K. Law, W. I. Andrew, and W. S. Stewart. After the same had been read and considered, it was proposed by Mr Thynne and seconded by Mr Spellman, That Mr W. S. tewart B.A. be selected for the post of head-master, and it was carried unanimously. The Chairman reported that a new bell had been procured for the school, by the exertions of Mr W. Ingrain, and that he (the chairman) had had it erected. The Committee lett the question of re opening the school in the hands of the chairman, who was to be guided by the advise of Dr Dermer.
