A Rare Fish.
A rare fish has been stranded c the ueaoh at Waikaiiae. It w secured by Mr T. A. Field, vi\. kindly forwarded it by train yestt day to Mr Drew to be added to b valuable collection. It is the Pacif species of Tunny, and is about fo 1 feet long, weighing nearly a hui dred-weight. Its colour on the bat is a deep stsel blue, on the belly it ; ai'very. The finlets, of which thei are 19 are bright yellow. This fis is only represented in the < oloui; Museum by a skull which was f )un many years ago near the same placi Mr Drew also received .yesterday ; large specimen of Hippocampn Abdominalis, commonly known r the sea-horse, this fish was caugl in a net on Tuesday at the mouth < the Turakina River by Mr Thomr Eley. It is most unusual to find tl: sea-horse in shallow waters. It i occasionally brought up from tb lower depths of the sea on ancho ohains.— Chi oniele.
