Mother lary Joseph AUBUET, THE NEW ZEALAND V'EGETATIST. HFxt FEMEDIES ABE THE ■ . VERY BEST. INFLUENZA, It will have been noticed by all readers of tbe newspapers during the past few days that the epidemic 1 , commrnly fcnown as Influenza, is raging with direful effects in Sydney, Adelaide, and Melbourne, and that many deaths have already occurred. There can therefore be no doabt that we shall have this scourge amongst ourselves within a very abort time, and as all persons in every Station of {life are liable to be attacked, it would be wise on the part of everyone to tai-e all necessary precautions in preventing themselves catching this most troub esome complaint. The .authorities in England and on the Continent some time since issued instructions that preventatiye remedies were to be giyeu daily to the military and to the police, and it was reported that this had very good effect. Now we all know that prevention is better than cure, and to this end the proprietor of MOTHER MABY JOSEPH ALBERT'S BEMEDIES has every confidence in recommending the public to try " MARUPA." It is a vegetable remedy, and from past experience has proved itself invaluable in giving relief to those suffering from severe headaches, harshness in the Bronchial Tube, running at tho nose, pains in the back, and loins, and the other particular forms in which INFLUENZA attacks the system of different # persons. The public ia asked to give it a fair trial, and from the evidence of Archbishop Bedwood we are sure every one ought to have faith in the wonderful power which these valuable vegetable medicines have in counteracting the various attacks made In the human system. BEAD WHAT "THE NEW ZEALAND TABLET " SAYS : '' The religious orders continue to maintain their reputation as benefactors of Society in temporal as well as in spiritual matters. A n^w proof of this is furnished in the remedies which have been discovered by the Sister Mary Joseph Aubert of the Order of Notre Dame des Missions. The good Sister, whoso life lias been devoted to the instruction I oi the Maoris, while she has laboured ' successfully at improving their minds and enlightening their spirits, has not been neglectful of their bodies. The result is the discovery of a series of medicines manufacfcuieJ from native trees and plants and which have been proved undeniably to be of almost mnrveli( n < efficacy. It is to the credit of the Tatho ie Church in the colony that one of its missionary Sisters bus « is inguishod hn-self in this way. urohaMy conferring on tho world a bo pfit -little, if anything, inferior to that conferred, for example, by the Jesuit, Fathers who discovered "the curative properties of the Peruvian bark. Not only suffering humanity, but science itse"f owes a debt to this lady, who has made it acquainted with properties of natural products, hitherto unsuspected, and has punched tho pliar r macoposia. We have, further, in the matter an inatame of how religious dovotion is calculated to quicken the faculties aud to develop the best qualities of human nature, -ister Mary Joseph is to be warmly commended for her discoveries, and, indeed, the community generally may be congratulated on tbain."
