Seventh— The deaths among lives assured were 649 under 73& ■policies, causing claims upon the Society amounting to £2dd,602, irrespective of Bonus additions, wffile the number expected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have been 1143 t for an amount of £438,---976, the mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. Eighth— The receipts from interest and rents were £516,832, an amount exceeding the sum paid for the claims by £138,952. Ninth— The expenses of Management were only 9.5 per cent, of the total receipts. Tenth— The cash surplus divided for the year 1889 was £426,494, being at the rate of 41.5 per cent, on the premiums received.
