A Remarkable Recovery.

A Russian paper, the Wratteh, relates the following incident as being worthy the attention of the medical profession :— A women of 85 years of age, who "was employed,at a cigarette factory for 14 hours daily, and only earned from thirty to forty kopecks, at length succumbed to the hard work and semi-starvation. She was taken to the hospital, and on being restored to health she sought in vain for work. She gave way to despair and determined to die. Her religion forbidding her to lay violent hands on herself, she decided to starve to death. The woman went into a forest and hid in a deserted hut to await her death. For twenty-six days the unfortunate creature lingered on without food or drink. At last she was discovered by a peasaat in a terrible condition, and her pulse had almost ceased to beat. The women was removed to the hospital, and now after three weeks, has been discharged in her usual health.
