A Strong Man.
; — ■•— — r^r— Sandow, the strong man has been giving farther exhibitions of his strength in London. Having got into trim by a little practice with 561 b dumb-bells, Sandow gives a kind of preliminary exhibition with weights varying from 561 b to 2801 b. With a weight of 661 b in each hand he leaps over a table and turns a complete somersault, also performing the latter feat blindfolded and with his legs tied together at the ankles. His chief feat is really one of endurance, and consists in keeping raised at. arm's length a . Shetland ! pony. The animal is hoised some distance in the air until Sandow is ready to receivd him on his shoulder, and then the pony is triumphantly carried round the stage by the strong man. Sandow concludes his performance with an old feat executed in & novd way. He strikes an attitude on the stage, and supports a platform on his knees and shoulders. On this is placed a grand piano/ with player, while on top of the instrument three of the least timorous members of the orchestra are mounted, and at a signal strike up "Bule Brittania" apd the curtain descends. Sandow met with a most enthusiastic reception . v tf|
