Seventh— The deaths among lives assured were 649 under 735 policies, causing claims upon the Society amounting to £299,602, irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number expected according to the Tableg used in pstimating the liabilities vfculd have been 1143, for an amount oJ £438,---976, the mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. Eighth— The receipts from interest and rents were £316,832, ah amount exceeding the sum paid for the claims l.y £138,952. Ninth— Tho expenses of Management were only 9*5 per cent, of the total re. ceiptfi. Tenth— The cash surplus divided for the year 1889 was £426,494, being at the rate of 41.5 per cent, on the premiums received. The operations of the Society during the 41 years of its existence may be summarised an under — Tl lias issued 141,907 policies, assuring £49,417,717* Tt has paid to the representatives of deceased members over £4,---000,000 in satisfaction of death anp matured claims. It has divided among the members rash bonuses aggregating over £4,000,000, yielding reversionary additions of over £8,000,000.
