Manawatu Rowing Club.
The following are the results cf the first round of heats for the exCaptain's cup rowed on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings : — Cowles scr v. -Eure 20secs— This was a good race, the scratch man winning by lour lengths. Potter lOsecs v. Haraer 35secs.— There was some difficulty in starting this race owing to the limit man being new to sculling. Potter won as he liked. Owing to Fraser and Hinchliffe having " scratched," their opponents, Cook and Hodgson, scored byes, and rowed over the course together. On Wednesday evening J. Symons ssecs met W. btansell 30secs, and defeated him with ease by six lengths. The following heats have been drawn for the second round :~ Cowles v. Cook, Potter v. J. Symons. Hodgson v. C. Sj'mons, T. Nyerowes a bye. The flag will be hoisted at the shed the day the heats will be rowed on. ___ _____
