Manukau.

♦ (from oub own correspondent.) The annual concert in connection ' with the Manukau school was given in the Native hall last month, and < proved a great success. The first part of the entertainment consisted of Infant songs, Swedish drill, and • Indian clubs by the children. The second part consisted of a Kinderspiel or Juvenile Cantata entitled "Playmates." In the course of the of the play the following friends of juvenile are introduced, namely Jack the Giant Killer, Jack of the Beanstalk, Lick Whittington and Simple Simon, also Maggie Lauder, Flora McDonald and Annie Laurie. Ihe solos and chourses went without any hesitation, on the part of children. The promoters are to be congratulated in the success of the whole affair, as nearly £10 was taken. Here as elsewhere the Influenza has run riot among young and old, scarcely a . household escaping. It was so bad in Otaki last week that the • tate School has been closed. Gorru Bros., saw mill at Ohau has changed hands, Mr H. Whiley of this township has bought the mill, and I daresay is by this time in possession of it. There is a rumour of a new saw mill being started in this place. The bush is a fine native block close to the railway. Mr James' new house is nearing completion and when finished will be a great improvement to the place.
