CORRESPONDENCE.
« We are not responsibe for the statements ov opinions of correspondents. (TO THE EDITOR OP THE JIANMVATO HERALD.) Sic, — In regard to the letter signed «' A Member of the Defunct Choral Society," we have to thank him for the very liberal suggestion of giving half of the amount of £80 towards the Foxton Town Band. About £80 is all that is required, and the town subscriptions we expect will amount to about £15, so with the help of the above money from the Society, it would be sufficient to purchase instruments ; the Secretary has received price lists from Wellington warehouses to that effect. We have already five instruments in the town, the private property of members of the Band, and it is proposed that the money to purchase the new instruments should be placed in the hands of the Mayor or two responsible persons, and for them to purchase the instruments for the benefit of the town. The majority of the members are old bandsmen, and a little practise would enable them to take part in any gathering. It therefore behoves one and all to lend a hand to make it a success. Thanking yon in anticipation for the space.-tjfciin, &c, W. H. Gerbks, Hon. b'ec, for Committee.
