Borough Council.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Council was held at the Library building yesterday afternoon. Present— T. Wilson (Mayor), Crs McMillan, Nye, Hillary aud Austin. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The following letters were read : — From W. Alzdorf agreeing to accept a reduction in the price of the plan of the Borough of l"2, and reducing scale from » chains to 8 inches. From J. R. Stansell applying for leave of absence. The following resolutions were passed : — That Cr Stansell be granted leave of absence for this and the next meeting of the Council. Proposed by O MnMillwi. wofwdw?

by Cr Austin, That Mr W. Alzdorf s offer of £13 for preparing a plan of the Borough be accepted, the scale being 8 chains to one inch, and that the former resolution accepting his offer of £25 for a plan on a larger scale be rescinded. Proposed by Cr Nye, seconded by Cr McMillan, That the olerk be instructed to order timber for repairs to the approaches to the Wirikino ferry. Proposed by Cr McMillan, seconded by Cr Hillary, That the Mayor's action appointing Cr Nye as delegate to meet the Palmerston N. Hospital board be endorsed.

O Nye gave in a report of the meeting of delegates which he had attended. (This has already been published.) The following tenders were opened for metaling : — John Anderson, 2s llfd per yd, for 1 and 2 contracts ; C. Nelson, 3s 9d per yd. No. 1 contract, 8s lOd No. 2 contract ; H. Dillon, 8s 5s pev yd. No. 1 contract, 4s 5d No. 2 contract ; H. Coley, 8s 3d per yd. No. 1 contract, 8s 6d No. 2 contract. Proposed by Or McMillan, seconded by Cv Nye, That John Anderson's tender for metalling be accepted at two shilling and elevenpence halfpenny per yard. The following accounts were passed :— Sullivan, £6 10 ; C Spring £2 17s 6d, do carting, £8 7s 6d ; T. F Gibson, £6 5s ; E. McLean, 16s 9d ; Charitable Aid, Carroll, £1 10s ! 9d ; H. Blake, £1 10s.
