Seventh— The deaths among lives assured were 649 under -735 policies, causing claims upon the Society amounting to £299,602, irrespective of Bonus additions, white iher number expected „ according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have been -.141-3, for an amount of £438,---976, the mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. Eighth — The receipts from interest and rents were £516,832, an amount exceeding the sum paid for the claims by £138,952. Ninth— The expenses of Management were .. only 9*5 per cent, of the total receipts. Tkntii — The cash surplus divided for the I year 1889 was £426,494, being at the rate of 41.5 per cent, on the premiums received. The operations of the Society during the , 41 years of its existence may be summar - f ised as under — It has issued 141,907 policies, ' assuring £49,417,717. > Jt has paid to the representatives of deceased members over £4,---000,000 in satisfaction of s ' death anp matured claims. ' It has divided among the members i «ash bonuses aggregating over , ' £4,000,000, yielding reversionary additions of over £8,000,000.
