Electoral Nomenclature.
* '. In Thursday's issue we pointed out how unsuitable the name of Otaki, the name of a small village, and a small river, was for the electoral district to which it was given. We suggested a return to the old name of Foxton, owing to this town representing the central position as to population, or else, the name of Horowhenua, the name ot the county on the south of the Manawatu river. On the same day the Post had an article on the electoral nomenclature, and in it stated that some of the names chosen by the Commissioners were " barbarous and inappropriate." As regards this electorate the writer says : — " Otaki is another instance. Otaki, as a township, has a distinct individuality of its own, and as the river, is certainly not as prominent a feature in the electorate as the Manawatu, which name is altogether j ignored. To include Foxton in a district called Otaki is simply absurd but it is only an example of' similar absurdities elsewhere." It remains to be seen whether such protests will weigh with those who are answerable for such blunders.
