Electric Railway.
If not as yet financially successful, the South London Electric Bailway is distinctly so in other respects, whether regard be had to the increasing traffic, the smoothness and regularity with which it is conducted, ' or the comfort of passengers. The experience of the first few months has proved that so far, at any rate, {is an under-ground motive is conperned, electricity has no equal, whilst in the hottest day the atmosphere is as pure as above ground, and naturally a good deal cooler. So much having been achieved, London is promised shortly a service '■ of electric oranibusses, to be followed by electrio cabs. Perhaps before Joo& electrio bicycles will be the Jmwv of the day. It is, however, to be hoped that these vehicles of the future will be more graceful and " electric " looking than the ponderous machine on wheels which for some months has been making experimental journeys through some of the most crowded thoroughfares of the metropolis.
