« _ The usual meeting of the above Council was held at the Library buildings yesterday afternoon at 8 o'clock. After waiting half an hour a quorum was obtained. Present — C.rs Nye, McMillan, Austin, Stansell and Hillary. Cr Hiilary made the usual declaration. Or Nye, in the absence of the Mayor, was voted to the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was read : — Inwards— Horowhenua Coanty re Auditor-General's award. Charitable Aid Board enclosing cheque for £13 19s lOd for aid puri poses. I H. Aldridge asking for the name
of W. Aldridge on the rate roll ft* section 47 A, also drawing attentj^W to the state of the road in fronts 1 Ibis house. -o * W. AMorf r e plan of the Borragfi. H. BlakS asking the Council to reconsider their decision re lean-to at Library building. P. Guerin applying for power to I summon owners of trespassing cattle* The following resolutions w» agreed to : — Proposed by Cr McMillan, seconded by Cr Austin, That the correspondence from thcHorowhenua County Ctfuflcif be held over for consideration. Proposed by Cr Ans4i», seconded by Cr Hillary, That part aeetion 47 A in the Borough of Foston betransferred in the Rate Book fcons Henry Aldridge to William Aldridgßv Proposed by Cr Stansell seconded
by Cr Hillary, That W. Alzdorfs oiSfer to draw map of the Borough be accepted at a reduced price and Cr McMillan and Austin be appointea committee to arrange. Proposed by Cr Austin, seconded by Cr Hillary, That Patrick Guerin, the Borough Ranger be authorised to carry out his duties as Ranger in accordance with the Borough by-laws and that he be empowered to summon owners of stray cattle, horses etc., for repeated trespass. Proposed by Cr Nye, seconded by Or McMillan, That tenders be called for metalling part of Robinson, Rnssell and Johnston street, also a section of the Motoa road. Tenders to be in by the next meeting of the Council. Proposed by Cr McMillan, sesonded by Cr Hillary, That the report of the Committee of the 28th September be adopted with the exception of the Cemetery reserve tender, and that Mr Howan be given the opportunity of renewing his tenancy for three years at a rental of £5 per annum. Proposed by Cr Austin, seconded by Cr Stansell, That the_ Clerk be instructed to purchase chairs for the use of the Council.
