Our Farmers.
. ♦ ■ It is now fully admitted that the finest land in the Colony is to be found on the west coast ot the North Island. Owing to the line of railway from Foxton to Palmers ton running -^ through the Himatangi run, an idea has been abroad that the whole land south of the Oroua River, in the Manawatu County, is of similar quality to that observed from the carriage windows. The case is very much otherwise, as after passing Carnarvon railway station, going north up the tram line, the land steadily improves, till some of the finest agricultural land, is reached. The main line between Wellington and Auckland should take this route. A moment's examination of the sketch supplied shows that if rails wore laid from Levin station to Foxton, and from Sanson to a point between Greatford and Marfcon, * where the North Central line intersects, a dead straight course would be obtained. Travellers then would be carried through a remarkably fine district. This rough sketch will assist in
