The Premier aunounced yesterday afternoon that Mr Perceval, tho member for Chrisfcchurc'i. had been offered and had accepted tho appointment of Agent-General. In making such an opfointnafnt the Government ought to rise ab ye all political considerations. They ought to seek the best roan that New Zealand could produce, a man who had had large expeiience, and had iveoived the confidence of the public in tho past.
