Wirokino Road Board.

Tha usual monthly meeting of the -bove Board was held at Levin on Saturday.

Present -Messrs J. Davies (chairman), Gascoigne, Wallace and Staff.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

The following resolutions were agreed to : -

Proposed by J. Wallace, seconded by W. Statf - That the Chairman be instructed to write to Mr Haselden explaining that should the owners of sections affected by the continuation of the Buckley road agree . among themselves as to the best course to adopt in referenoe to obtaining the necessary funds, that this Board will do all in their power to continue the required road. Proposed by J. Wallace, seconded by E. Gascoigne -That permission be given to Mr Bradley to fall the bush on the road line adjoining his section on the usual terms, viz., 3s per chain. Proposed by E. Gascoigne, seconded by J. Wallace— That Mr Scott confer with Mr MoGonagle with respect to improvements on the Shannon road as soon as possible.

Proposed by W. Staff, seconded byJ. Wallace — That the Chairman write to the Eailway Company with reference to the crossing at Heatherlea. The present unprotected state of the line at the crossing being dangerous both to the settlers and the railway.

Proposed '-y E. Gascoigno, seconded by J. Wallace — That Mr Scott's report on the various works in progress be adopted. Proposed by E. Gflscnigne, seconded by J. Wallace— That, notice be sent to Messrs Wilkinson nnd Hopkirk that the Board are in no way responsible for any accidents that may occur from using the bridge complained of, th* said bridge Laving been erected without the Hoard's sanction by some of the settlers of Shannon. Proposed by W. Staff, seconded by J. Wallace— That the I'oard accept the offer of Mr Ashbridge for felling road-line known as Cambridge street from its june ion with Queen street north, alout 80 chains more or less, at 8s per ohain, usual terms. Proposed by E. Gascoigne seconded by J. Wa'lace— That Mr Roos be written t > for an explanation of his tender. That iv the event of the answer from Mr Roos not being satisfactory, the tender of J. H. Anderson be aooepted at the sum of £216 for the whole work cv the Victoriaroad. Accounts to the amount of £214 Gs 8d were passed for payment.
