Mr Bryce Resigns.
In the House last night there was a long discussion upon the vote o: passed on the hon Johr. Bryce. The Speaker gave a lengthy ruling (Jeolaiing that Mr Bryoe had used an expression that was unparliamentary, The Hon Mr Rolleston asked the Premier whether in view of the circumstances of the case, ho was prepared to make any motion in the direction ot rescinding the vote oi censure and expunging the proceedings from the journals of the House. The Premier thought that nothing that had been done should be undono The hon. Mr Rolleston then handed the hon Mr Bryce's resignation to the Speaker. The Premier then moved that a new writ be issued saying that he did so with a great deal of regret. The hon Mr Rolleston moved the rescindment of the resolution of oensure. Captain Russell seconded it. The Premier vefuaad to aaaepfc it, and after a long discussion the amendment was lost 2G voting for it and 84 against it. . Thus the government have sue cjeded in driving an able opponent out of the House and the service of the country.
