Fixth — The Accumulated Fund was increased during the year by tho sum of 43742,31.1 equal to 71 per cent of the gross premiums received. Srventh— The deaths among lives assured were 649 under 735 policies, causing, claims upon the Society amounting to £299,602, irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number expected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have heen 1143, for an amount of £438,- - 976, the mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. Eighth— The receipts v fr6m 'interest and rents were £516,832, an amount exceeding the sum paid for the claims by £138,952. Ninth— The expenses of Management were only 9.5 per cent, of the total receipts. , Tenth — The cash surplus divided for the year 1869 was £426,494, being at the rate of 41.5 per cent, on the premiums received. The operations of the Society during the 41 years of its existence may be summarised as under — Jt has Issued 141,907 policies, assuring £49,417,717. It has paid to the representatives o£ deceased members over £4,---000,000 in satisfaction of death anp matured claims. It has divided among the members rash bonuses aggregating over £4,000,000, yielding reversionary additions of over £8,000,000.
