Foxton Racing Club.

The annual general meeting of the Foxton Racing Club was held at Whyte's hotel last night. There was a good attendance. Mr Davidson was voted to the chair. The Secretary read the minutes of tli6 last meeting which were duly passed and signed. The following report and balance sheet were read : — Annual Repobt of the Foxton Racing Club's Committee for Year Ended July 31, 1891. In presenting this Annnal Report and Balance sheet, the Committee have the pleasure to report a successful year's operations. Two race meetings were held, but your committee have to regret the fact that owing to the action of the Wellington Club in holding the first, day of their Summer Meeting on Anniversary Day, thus diverting much support from owners who have generally supported your Club's ' Summer Meeting, the financial j result of the January meeting was considerably lessened. At the Autumn Meeting, the Club .were very unfortunate in the weather which was so bad as to almost render a postponment of the races necessary. Owing to these causes, the receipts from the totalisator were much less than was anticipated. Your Committee, recognising the aim of the Club to be to encourage racing in the district, has persistently worked with the view of improving the running and training tracks, and during the year nearly £70 has been spent with this object in; viewLarge quantities bf stahle and slaughterhouse refuse have been spread upon the course, and the good effects of this will it is hoped, be plainly visible during the coming season. A full statement of the finances of the Club is appended, from which it willbe seen the Club now has a credit balance of £36. It is noteworthy that, as compared with the previous year, the receipt from members fees show a falling off of £20, or nearly half. Your Committee have to note with regret that Mr J. MoLennan desire*

to be relieved of the office of" President of the Club, and also that Mr F. Eobinson has jjeaigned t^f Judgeship. * -^fcBalance $heet of the Foxton Racing Club for the year ending 1891.
