Kereru.

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) The settlers are very glad at the change the weather has undergone during the past week, for the continuous frosts have made grass very scarce. It has grown visibly since the warm rain began and everything shows that spring has begun. A sharp earthquake was felt on Thursday about 9.15 p.m., the direction appearing from east to west. A wedding which excited considerable interest, as it was the first occurrence of the kind at Kereru, took place last week, when Mr Robert Horne and Miss An ie Laing were united in the holy bonds of matrimony. The ceremony which took lace at the residence of the bride's arents was performed by the Rev. . Raine. A very old specimen of the native ce died here a few days ago. The aoris say she was over one ndred years of age, and from her pearance one could not doubt the rrectness of their statement. Her and-daughter Jemima, died the lowing day in Otaki, haying been ken down a few days previously medical treatment.
