In a letter which appeared in the ■London Times of July 7th, it is stated that in the state aided public elementary schools of Paris the. fol* lowing "manual of Unsectarian Instruction " is in daily use : — Teacher : What is God ? ]eiifld s rWecanh6ftell. ;} ' ; Teacher : Do you acknowledge a Superior or controlling Being ? Child .■•", Why should we ? Prove to -us the -necessity and show him to us. Teacher : It cannot be proved that ■such # being is indispensable. Child : Then it is waste of time to tatit- about the: matteri, )'■.'■.:.: vj " ; The catechism is summed up in these -words : '. " The term ' God ' has no signifr cation, it means nothing -at all."
