Yesterday, while the boring operations under Mr J. H. OUlberd were in full swing, a strange powder was found to be effecting the boring tools, and these were with? draw,!;, when immediately, there burst otft'tfMignfc.plT^Offc^n^Ujdj gas, and salji water. The bore was down. lßoft, the last 80ft of which was d.nven.. yesterday, in ithe incredibly short space of two hours . Last 'night this was lighted when a i\tim& sft high litup the whole place. Mi B ' Edwards, of the Gas Company, visited '.the, works with several others, and af groat deal of wonderment is expressed '^t the volume of gas which Continues to force its way out.
