On Monday morning she arose at her usual time and appeared very, oheerful, and after a* lUtle, time, not having felt very strong for some months, she laid down on the sofa in her sitting room. Her daughter looked in to see how she waa. feeling and saw her apparently, .quietly sleeping. Something about ; ber look, alarmed her and she called ber neighbour in, who had the sad task to convince her that her mother's spirit had parted to a better land. Mrs Cummerfield has resided in this. district the greater portion of her residence in the colony, some thirty-seven yefart. She came out from England with her cousin, Mp Rnss and his wiie, and resided for a few years at Rangitikei. She .there married Mr Edward Cummerfield, and, soon afterwards ?sme to live at Foxton. . , ' The deceased lady during her residence in this distriot /had endeared herself to a very large circle of friends and relations, who will feel her loss most keenly. The only comforting assurance to them being, ihat during her life she had acted in al matters right and kindlyv and that her end at the last was peace. Mrs Cummerfield had the satisfaction of seeing all her family grown up, three of her daughter? haying married, one being the wife of Mr James Taylor, junr., one the; wife of Mr Eva, who is now living in Sydney, and one the wife cf Mr H. • Booth. The other daughter resided with her mother, Only one son, Joseph, was married, and he was left a widower three years ago, with three young children, who were, cared for and resided with their father at the old borne. Ths other two sons, John and Edward, are still single, the. elder residing at home and Edward living on a property he had acquired at Kiwitea. .
