The Chicago Exhibition.
. — . — _♦ . — It is evident that the Chicago Exhibition is going to be an immense success. We have not heard of any active steps being taken by this Colony to be properly represented at it. We feel assured that to have a capable agent and well selected exhibits at this exhibition would be of immense service to this country. Tn this district we may claim to be the centre of the great hemp-milling industry. We, of all the Colonists, would reap advantage from a suitable display of our products. The quantity of flax shipped direct to America is very large, the quantity going there via London , is larger. Hemp millers often wonder what the Association they formed is of use for ; now here is the opportunity. Let some one stir up the officials, let more of the " sinews of war" be obtained, and then let preparations be made for the forwarding to Chicago of the flax leaf from its green to its most finished state, with samples of its appearance under every process. Communications should be. entered into with the manufacturers of stripping machinery, that samples of these should also go forward. We trust these suggestions will meet with the favourable consideration and energetic action on the part of our hemp millers, when we feel sure such action will never be regretted.
