Foxton School Committee.
The first meeting of the newlyelected Committee was held at Mr Ray's office this, morning at 11. v Present— Mes^i% \Ra*% C. Honore, W. G. Robinson and B. Spelman. Mr Thynne was elected chairman. Mr Ray brought up the question of putting the compulsory clauses , of , the Education Act into force. ' - It was resolved that the pnrts of the Education Act 1877 from section ' 89 to section 93 both inclusive shall . come into force in the school district of Foxton as from the date of this meeting. Resolved, That the head teacher* be requested to report the names of the children of the district who "are not attending school, and that the report be laid before a meeting on Thursday at 11 a.m. '•• ■ -: Resolved, That the appointment of a caretaker and cleaner be left till next meeting. ,- • 1. 1 t Resolved, That Mr Ray be Clerk to the Committee without remuneration. Resolved, ' That the Committee hold a meeting on the first Thursday in each month at 1 1 a.m. at Mr Ray's office. Resolved, That a sub-committee consisting of Messrs RobinsoriySpeTmah, Honor e arid Ray- Be 1 'a^pdifitM to confer with the head-teacher 4nd to suggest mean 3to raise .jnan&yUtb pay. off the school debt ? ... ? . . .
