■ '. ■ — ♦— We much regret to have to record that yesterday afternoon the dwelling house of Mr Thomas Bowe, situated on his firm, was totally destroyed by fire at half past there The fire appears to have originated from a defect in the chimney, and had got too strong a hold for any efforts to subdue it by the time it was noticed. The family only managed to save a few things, having to .work hard to save the building in which the Separator was kept. Mr Bowe was away, he being the lessee of the | Wirikino ferry. The building was insured for £100 and the furniture for £25, and dairy 425 in the New Zealand Insurance Co., of which .Mr Gibson is. the local representative.'
