Seveni_i— The deaths among lives assured were 649 under 735 policies, causing claims upon the Society amounting to '£2299,602, irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number expected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have been 11 43, for an amount of £438,-S-7G, tho mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. Eighth— The receipts from interest and rents were £516,832, an amount exceeding the sum paid for the claims by £138)052* Ninth— The expenses of Management were only 9.5 per cent, of the total receipts. Tenth— Tbe cash surplus divided for the year 1889 was £426,494, being at the rate of 41.5 per cent, on the premiums received. The operations of the Society during the 41 years of its existence may be summar ised as under — It has issued 14_1,907 policies, assuring £49,417,-71-7. It has paid to the representatives of deceased members over £4,---000,000 in F-atisfnction of death an-i matured claims. It has divided among tho members i ash bonuses aggregating over £4,000,000, yielding re-v-rsionary additions of over £5,C00,000.
