Seventh— The deaths among lives assure! were 649 under 735 policies, causinj claims upon the Society amounting ti £299,602, irrespective of Bonu additions, while the number expectet according to the Tables used in esti mating the liabilities would have beei 1143, for an amount of £438,---976, the.mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. Eighth— The receipts from interest and rents were £516,832, an amount exceeding the sum paid for the claims by £138,952. Ninth— The expenses of Management were only 9.5. per cent, of the total receipts. Tenth — The cash surplus divided for the year 1889 was £426,494, being at the rate of 41.5 per cent, on the premiums received. The operations of the Society during the 41 years of its existence may be summarised as under — It has issued 141,907 policies, assuring £49,417,717. It has paid to the representatives of deceased members over £4,» 000,000 in satisfaction of d«ath anp matured claims. It has divided among the members rash bonuses aggregating over £4,000,000, yielding reversionary additions of over £8,000,000.
