* Pakeha, in the Wanganui Herald writes : — A visit paid to Mr Donald Fraser 's establishment, at Rangitikei, which is presided over by Mr D. Campion, shows that he has been very busy with his charges. The first to come under notice was Cruiser (by Robinson Crusoe — Radiance.) This horse is looking well, and would have competed at the late W.J. Club's Meeting only for meeting with a mishap by striking one of his legs while being schooled over the

jumps. The next was the speedy Ascot — Speculation filly, Fortnney who showed such good form at the Autumn Meeting of the W.J.C. This filly is wintering well and should give a good account of herself 1 next season. She is engaged in the j Hawke's Bay Guineas and New Zealand Cup. A well-known, spgr. has offered the sum of 200 guineas for her on behalf 'of Mr F. Paneti, the owner of Wairan. After Fortune, came a beautiful bay filly by Tim Whiffler out of that wellknown racing mare Laurel, by Gownsman out of Bayleaf, full sister" to the dam of Fishook (Dan O'Brien's old favourite who won the Dunedin Cup;) This filly shows lots of quality, having a beautiful head, grarM rein, splendid neck and shoulders, and any amount of power behind, also splendid gaskins. She'is engaged in the Wanganui Derby of 1892, and also the H.B. Guineas. She has never started as a 2-year-old. The next to be seen was a coming 2-year-old colt (Nordenfeldt — Patch), who has thickened out and come on wonderful well since he has , been under Campion's care. After hun came a colt (By King Coler-rrWainui, by Ravensworth — Waimea (Waimea is the dam of those 'weU-_a_<Jwn sires Manuka and Puriri), This colt shows a lot of quality' and. -stands close on 16* hands 7 high, looking every inch a good galloper and should make one of the best; Derby colts in the colony, as weight I should think will make no difference to him. At Bulls Dr Bennett 1 has ir. hand a brown filly by The Premier — Evergreen, dam of Emerald ; she shows good form, but is very backward in condition. The same owner has also a bay filly named Priscilla, by The Premier-Matilda^ 0 this filly won the Three-Year-Old Handicap at Ma_ton,.lasjfc March. Dr Bennett foal' 'at foctMH Jq-l^^li-^stinted to "Pxx^'l^^'-t^^iLh^ltefr other well bredf mares, Mm which he is breeding for the Indian j^rlcet. Dr B__mett spares no pahw'inr undertaking, and-ri^dald'-^-i-glad to see him recouping some of his original outlay, as he deserves, to succeed. Mr J. Stevens has in work Petroleum (in charge of ithe English trainer Hildren). This horse performed in the Flying Handicap at the late W.J.C. Meeting, -but was very backward, looking 'more like a show horse. Kimberley (by Armourer — Milksop), has been purchased by S. H. Gollan, of Hawke's Bay, the price paid being £100. The Times says: — The racehorse Strephon, bred in the Foxton district, has been purchased by Mr E. Wood, of Bulls, and will be taken up there for the. winter prior to being put into work for summer engagements.
