A famine is raging in several provinces of Russia, and thousands of peasants' h„ve died of want. The Russian pre 1 -- has been ordered not to allude to the famine. Starving peasants are robbing houses for food, and those not paying their taxes have been flogged. Collisions have taken place between the peasants and the troops, in which many lives were lost.
