Mr Goschen on Tuesday moves his expulsion from the House. Lord Chancellor Halsbury is appealing for £100,000 to enable the Church and the Salvation Army to extend their field of operations in the colonies. The Russian Government threatens to withdraw its gold credit from London and Paris, but if they do so the Rothschilds will collect sufficient bullion to replace the amount withdrawn. The Times says that the accept- [ ances in Baring's estate have been run off to within half a million. The prospects of a satisfactory realisa* tion are improving. Fifty members of the House of Commons and all the table clerks except one are down with influenza. The British have annexed Bastard's country west of Bechaana Land, and are preventing the Boers and Damaris treking there. New Zealand long-berried wheat, 445. For New Zealand wheat on passage sellers are asking 445, but buyers will not give more than 48s. New Zealand hemp, medium quality, is quoted at £22, but there is no demand. Canterbury lamb, 6d. Beef, hindquarters, 4|d. Frozen meat is otherwise unchanged.
