America.
The Grand Jury at New Orleans has refused to indict those alleged to be connected with the lynching of Sicilans. In their report they state they have discovered many efforts to bribe the jury who tried the Sicilians for the murder of Chief Detective Hennessy ; also that half of the original jury desired to convict the Sicilians. Nine of the victims were naturalised American citizens. The Grand Jury further report that the lynching involved the entire city, and therefore it was difficult to fix anyone especially as guilty. The Press of the United States endorses the refusal of the grand jury to indict the New Orleans lynchers.
