Second— The new Assurance business effected was for £3,679,450. Tmiro — r l he New Annual Premium Income amounted to £121,800. FocitTH— The net increase to the business, after allowing for loss of income from terminated Policies, was represented by 7028 Policies," assuring £32,---109,190. Fifth— The operations of the year raised the annual income of the Society from £1,512,280 to £1,625,---185, an increase in twelve months of £112,908. THE P-tv. Si2VJ3NTH — The deaths among lives assured were 049 under 735 policies, causing claims upon the Society amounting to £299,602 i irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number expected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have been 1143, for an amount of £438,---976, the mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. i Eiohth— The receipts from interest and rents were £516,832, an amount exceeding the sum paid fov the claims by £138,002. Ninth— The expenses of Management were only 9.5 per cent, of the total re. ceiptd. Tenth — The cash surplus divided for the year 1889 was £426,494, being at Ihe rate of 41.5 per cent, on the premiums received.
