PERSONS WHO TURN TO AIR.
The fact that so many people disappear from London every year and leave no trace behind, makes ie worth while to recall a theory of the writer of an article that appeared in a French scientific jcuinal. The author advances the hypothesis thai doath : is occasionally actual dissolution. It is a disease, the writer maintains, but one from which there is no suffering ; there is no illness or warning of approaching end ; the patient suddenly ceases to exist, ami a; ' suddenly fades from sight. Like the uiai who saw the Boojum, he softly and £iid denly vanishes away. The author says In has actually witnessed this phenomcuor. find that he was at one time walking with • friend who suddenly vanished, and ha never reappeared ! With such conclnsiw testimony he has little doubt that 11. hi. persons searched for have actually nielie: Hito thin air. He further states that at tin moment his friend disappeared a strong nil phurous odour pervaded the atmosphere !
