ALI AN DENT SOCIETY. — The lAccumulated Fund was increased during the year by the sum o* £7425,311 equal to "71 per cent of the gro*s premiums received. Seventh — The deaths among lives assured were 649 under 735 policies, causing claims upon the Society amounting to £299,602! irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number expected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have been 1143, for an amount of £438,---9*76, the mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. EionTn— The receipts from interest and rents were £516,832, an amount exceeding the sum paid for the claims by £138,952. Ninth— The expenses of Management were only 9.S per cent, of the total receipts. Tenth — The cash surplus divided for the year 1889 was £426,494, being at the rate of 41.5 per cent, on the premiums received. The operations of the Society during the 41 years of its existence may be summarised as under — It has issued 141,907 policies, assuring £49,417,717. It lias paid to the representatives of deceased members over £4,---000,000 in sat isfiiction of death anp matured claim?. It has divided among the members 1 n.«h bonuses abrogating over £4,000,000, yielding revrrsioiiary additions of over £8,000,000.
