I^Whe last nieefciug of the Manaw^^T^ Boai;d the folowing clisciis{^ja took place : — AWAHUBI BRIDGE. The Chairman's action in accepting Mr Ihle's tender of £10 for work at Awahuri bridge was approved. ; A heated discussion took place between the Chairman and Warden Flyger as to the authorisation of the work of placing bags in the Awahuri river as portion of the protective works. The Chairman asserted that the work was thoroughly useless, and remained a standing disgrace to members of the Board. He had consulted Warden Flyger on the matter, and he had objected to Warden, . Flyger's suggestion that bags' should be placed there, and stated his intention of having piles driven in. To his astonishment and disgust, however, he found on next visiting the place that the bags had been placed in the stream. * Warden Flyger stated that he had visits the works at the express wish of the Chairman, and after consultation, it was decided that the bags should be placed in the stream, and he had had the work carried out under the instructions ol the Chairman. ■ He positively denied that he had had the work carried out on his 6#tt authority. Both members rose to a very warm pitch' and eventually the matter dropped without any motion being made. Warden Flyger remarked that the disagreement appeared to be the result of a misunderstanding. — M. Times.
