FEILDING RACES.

The above races were held yesterlayonthe new racecourse, and proved i vfiry successful meeting. The feather was all that could be derired, but the attendance was poor, jwing, no doubt, to the counter attractions at Palmerston The Feilding Brass Bass played some good music in the intervals between the different events, which livened up up the proceedings wonderfully. The following are the results of the various events : — Handicap Hack Hurdle Race— Roger, 1; Songster, 2; Doncaster, 3. Yardman and Ridge also started, the former falling at the second fence from home. when in a prominent position. This race resulted in a splendid finish, the whips being out on all the horses over the last fence. When fairly ia the straight a slashing set to between Roger, Songster and Doncaster resulted in the former squeezing home by a nose in the last stride, Songster beating Doncaster by a length for second honours. Dividend, £9 9s Feilding Handicap — Pyramus, 1 ; St. Malo, 2 ; Eetina, 8. This race needs little description, Pyramns, with the assistance of Freddy Price ia the pigskin, went to the front at the fall of the flag and was never collared, winning with a " bit up his sleeve " by two lengths, St. Malo and Eetina having a good set to for second money. The win, being a local one, was very popular. Dividend, £6 16s. Handicap Hack Eace— Niobe, 1 ; White Rose, 2; Bos, 8. Rob and White Rose, who are full sister and brother, were equal favourites on the machine. White Rose led for threequarters of a mile, when Bos and Niobe went up. Filtering the straight Niobe drew away and won all out by two lengths. Dividend, £ 5 12s. Flying Handicap— Rufus, 1 ; Angler, 2; St. Malo, 8. Rufus, who is generally an arrant rogue, raced as true as steel, and won all the way, half a length separating second and third horses. Pyramus, who was favourite, was left at the post. Dividend, £8 9s. Flying Hack Race— Waihi, 1, Viola n, 2 ; Doncaster, 8. This was one of the morals that came off, Waihi winning in the commonest of canters. Dividends, £1 16s. Winter Oats Handicap — Pyramus, 1 ; Montrose 11, 2 ; Angler, 3. Pyramus won very comfortably at the finish, Montrose be^gS^ Angler by a length for second plac& Forced Handicap — Ruras, 1 ; Josephine, 2 ; Fleta, 8. Rufus got well away and was never collared, winning very easily, Josephine beating Fleta by half a length for second place. Dividend, £2 14s.
