Assessment Court.

(Before H. W. Brabant, Esq., Judge.) Friday 27th February. T. F. Gibsou stated that he appeared on behalf- of the jßorough Council, and as valuei^^^ The advertisement smting forth the date and time of sitting was produced. The following objections were determined : — Joseph Nathan, who failed to appear, objected to the valuation that £50 per annum was excessive, as the property, the old store, was only let at £8 per annum. The Valuer objected to the reduction, and the valuation was upheld. A. E. Nixon appeared to object to the rating of sections Nos. 51, 52 & 68, as being excessive. He stated that he only paid £2 a year rental. The Valuer objected to the form of objection. ' The Judge held it was not in the usual form. He said it was rarely the objections were in the form set out by the Act. The Valuer withdrew his qbjeotion. He said the land was worth £110. A. E. Nixon said he had no evidence to adduce in support of his objection. The Judge dismissed the objection. J. R. Stansell appeared to object to the valuation of Whyte's hotel at £250. He stated he thought £200 sufficient. The Valuer stated that the rent paid by Stansell was £800 a year and also insurance on £1400. John Young another objector did not appear, but the Valuer agreed to a reduction from £20 to £18,
