CORRESPONDENCE.
*- ♦ . We are not responsible for the atatemena or opinions of correspondents. (TO THE EDITOR O? THE MANAWATTJ HERALD, Sm,— l notice the periodical farce appearing in your paper at the present time, i.c. — the Borough Council advertising calling for tenders for the position of Banger. Intending tenderers would like to know whether the lowest tender is likely to be considered, because for the last two or three years this has not been done ; but, one or two occasions, the highest tender has been accepted. I don't think the Council can improve on the present ranger if they could only induce him to keep his eyes open every night in the week and run in those great draught horses which are to be found nearly every night within a radius of ten or twelve <m»iu* of IN wheel h&ust|
The Councillors in their wisdom (?) might give the present ranger the position for three years — if law allows—and thus let the public see that they do not intend accepting any other tender. It appears to be a waste of money to call for tenders if they do not intend giving the tenderers a show. — I am, &c , Stock.
