** A FALL OF^IXTY FEET. A man named Charles Smith met with a serious accident while priding through the Gorge on Thursday afterMoon says the JH. Times,: Bounding a point he suddenly met the Palmer-ston-Woodville coach, and was unable to avoid , it. The coach struck the hind quarters of the horse, and horse and rider were'precipitated over the gorge and fell to the river bed a distance of 60 feet below, the horse rolling over Smith. The horse was hadly injured, and Smith miraculously escaped with his life. He was c mveyed by trap to Palraerston to the Club Hotel, and examined by Dr Macintire, who found that he was very severely shaken but had sustainedno serious injury.
