H. Redfern's Estate.
r- • A meeting of creditors in the estatt of Henry Redforn, hackler, Foxton was held at the office of the D.O.A Mr. G. J. Scott, last Thursday afternoon. The creditors present were Messrs C. Honore, J. Rutherford, J, E. Mudford, and R. Leary. The debtor, in a written statement, attributed his bankruptcy to unprofitable prices of flax, loss by fire, and sickness in his family. The debtor was unable to produce any records of his transactions since starting business, having kept no books, and for this neglect he was severely repremanded by the D.0.A., who warned him that if he were brought before the Distriot Court, Judge Kettle would deal very severely with him. As the result of the examination of the debtor, the creditors were satisfied that the debtor had acted straightforwardly in his business, but the wish was expressed that some definite statement of the debtor's financial dealings should be brought forward. The debtor said he would be unable to make out such a statement, but the creditors warned him that he would be publicly examined if it was not produced, and the meeting was adjourned for a month in order to give the debtor an opportunity of preparing it. — M.
