+ The following number of bales of New Zealand hemp were shipped from New Zealand during 1890 : — To London, 62,055 To America, 45,546 or a grand total of 107,601 bales, which at 5 bales to the ton would represent 21,620 tons. From Wellington 43,285 bales went to London and 21,102 bales to America. From Auckland, 5,856 bales went to London, and 22,888 bales to -America; From Canterbury, 7,182 bales went to London, and 1,556 to America; From Otago 8,782 bales went to London only. Wellington shipped altogether 66,887 bales ; Auckland 28,744 bales ; Canterbury 8,788 bales ; Otago 8,782 bales.
