+ The following number of bales of New Zealand hemp were shipped from New Zealand during 1890 : — To London, 62,055 To America, 45,546 or a grand total of 107,601 bales, which at 5 bales to the ton would represent 21,620 tons. From Auckland, 5,856 bales went to London, and 22,888 bales to -America; From Canterbury, 7,182 bales went to London, and 1,556 to America; From Otago 8,782 bales went to London only. Wellington shipped altogether 66,887 bales ; Auckland 28,744 bales ; Canterbury 8,788 bales ; Otago 8,782 bales.
