The Bank of New Zealand.
The London correspondent of the New Zealand Herald writing on December 12th, says :— *« Mr W. T, Holmes, who has been appointed General Manager of the Bank of New Zealand in the colonies, will leave England to take up his appointment by the s.s. Oriziba on January 2nd, It must be a matter of congratulation for the shareholders of the Bank and all others concerned in its welfare, that the Directors have been able to secure the services of a gentleman so cmi uently qualified to deal with the important and varied interests thai will be committed to his charge. It i no secret that on several importan g occasions Mr Holmes' advice wai it sought by the Government of thi d Island and acted upon much to thi d public advantage. Mr Holmes wil c bring to the councils of the Bank o: t New Zealand Directorate a deal if mind and an unbiassed judgment r and their action in reference to hif c appointment will meet with universa! t approbation throughout the colonies.
