The Flax Market.

Messrs W. and G. Turnbull and Co. hare placed at oar disposal the following circular from Mr C. Spurting, of 27, Leadenhall-street London. Brd December, 1890. Consequent on the confirmation of the heavy deliveiies last month. re« ferred to in my circular of the 29th ultimo, a decidedly firmer tone has been manifested by holders, and some few sales are reported as hay* ing been made within the past few days at £24 for medium, and £25 for fully good fair to good qualities. These, however, require confirmation. At auction to-day buyers, as usual held aloof from the markets, and only 150 bales of the 1881 bales catalogued were forced off at £22 15s to £28 for fair, and £24 for good qualities. Compared with lasc Wedneadflj-'a auctions to-day's prices show an advance of 20d to 80s per ton. - D cember 10. Since lost < Wednesday's auction there has been a rather better dedemand privately for New Zealand and some few parcels have changed hands at. 90s 80s prr to « advance on th.it day's currencies. To-duy ,our supplies comprised 860 bales ." salvage" and 578 bal>s of merchantable quality. Of tbis latter 299- bales met with a rather better demand, middliug to fair selling at £22 15s to £23 ; fair to fully fair, £28 15s ; common and ordinary £21 10s per ton— Press.
