This c latter gentleman had a splendid lot 5 of Romney Marsh- rams, and obtained l tbe top price amongst his Northern f competitors. Two splendid animals i by Jumbo 111 were passed in at the fc reserve price of 10 guineas, but bel fore the conclusion of the sale were i disposed of at a satisfactory figure. . The highest price obtained for any i single ram was 40 guineas for a t stud Lincoln belonging to Mr E s Menlove, of Oamaru, Mr McLennan . of Oroua Downs, being tbe purchaser. b This gentleman was a 1 bo the last to i catch the auctioneer's eye when Mr I Holmes' stud Lincoln was knocked 1 down for 20 guineas. Nearly the whole of tbe sheep were sold, and from the complimentary remarks passed by our Southern friends we have every reason to expect them at future sales of stud sheep.
:. .. » _;: BAM AND EWE FAIB. The first Ram and Ewe Fair under the auspices of the A. and P. Association was held at the Lower Hutt on Tuesday, says the N. Z. Times. From the large number of entries it will be seen that the success of this initial Fair augurs well for future sales of the kind. There was a large attendance. The Fair was conductedin a well-grassed paddock close to the Railway Station, and the Sect'fclaty. Mr Day, had made 'ample provision in the way of pens for the holding of the animals entered for aales, A large number of Southern ''breeders were represented, and from made by our representative *" a*l expressed themselves well pleased with the .prices ootained for their shoepV Th 6 Hon. M. Holmes had a fine collection of Linoolns, while Reid, of Elderslie, Withell, 'otßrookstde, Goulter, of Blenheim, -■* * *Threekeld and Garforth, of Canterbury, and Menlove, of Oamaru, each - contributed a choice lot for breeders to select from.
