Race Privileges.
Od Thursday Measrs Thynne Liuton & Co will sell by public auction the privileges in connection with the Summer meeting of the FoxtonEacing Club. There is bound to be good bidding, as the Christmas holidays have been very disappointing in the weather, and all are anxious to enjoy one good day's outing before the summer is over. It is hard to predict the weather, but, judging by the past, we fully expect a glorious day, there apparently being . ♦• a sweet little cherub that sits up aloft to keep watch " for the Club, as puoe and only ono p , have the raoes been postponed for rain This year further improvements have been effected, the outside publican's booth having been erected, so that the only temporary building to be found by the purchaser of the privi'ege will be the refreshment booth. A glanoe tit another column shows that owners have approved of the haiv^ioapping and good acceptances have been received, whilst the number of haokg nominated, guarantee a large attendance to watch their " fancy " win, The sport is "royal" being one for kings, and what evils are oonnected with raoing can be avoided, and are fast disappearing. The exertions of the Committee of the Club deserve encouragement, and our local men should feel in honour bound to secure the various lots, as the races are the means of introducing a large amount of ou'side capital into the town. Let us all pull together, and by mutual assistance eusure the continuance of the good name that we we have earnt and deserved, ot giving a capital day's sport without incurring any monetary lrss. The day's racing is as good an advertisement as the town gets, and the better known the town, the better business for the traders, and thus better for all.
