General Miles, who commands at Pine Ridge, is hopeful that the Indians will surrender without bloodshed. Five of the principe Indian bands have submitted. It is reported that the Shoshooe tribe has captured and 'burnt the city of Podeltello in Idnho State. The New York Herald states that the report that the American Pacific bquadron has been ordered to mobilise at Port Townsend in the spring is untrue, and that the aspect of the Behring Sea difficulty is imimproving. Diplomatists here anticipate an early and amicable settlement of the Behring Sea fishery dispute. Mr J. Gr. Blame, Secretary of State, suggests that a commission should visit Alaska to settle the matter.
